Enerdrape is pioneering a game-changing geothermal technology that transforms underground infrastructures like parking lots into renewable energy sources – without any drilling. It’s a plug-and-play solution to decarbonize the built environment.
Enerdrape® is redefining how we access underground energy. Born from two decades of research at EPFL, this Swiss cleantech startup has developed the world’s first modular geothermal panel technology that enables buildings to harness shallow geothermal and residual thermal energy—without drilling or direct contact with the ground.
Installed like vertical tiles on the walls of underground spaces such as parking garages, tunnels, or basements, these panels are connected to a heat pump system and provide a sustainable source of heating and cooling. Enerdrape’s panels deliver a characteristic thermal power of up to 170 W/m², making them 2 to 3 times more efficient than conventional geothermal wall systems.
What makes Enerdrape particularly impactful is its non-invasive design: easy to install, zero direct CO₂ emissions, and made from recycled and recyclable aluminum. A single square meter of panel can support the thermal needs of up to 23 m² of building space.

Enerdrape offers a scalable and retrofittable solution aligned with ESG goals and climate regulations, especially valuable in dense urban areas where traditional drilling is impractical. Already deployed in projects across Switzerland, France, and the U.S., this innovation is paving the way for resilient, low-carbon urban infrastructure.
By unlocking the untapped thermal potential of underground spaces, Enerdrape turns everyday infrastructure into active contributors to the energy transition.
